How to find Muslim support in your own city
- Start with your local masjid or Islamic centreMany have a family services or counselling contact, even if it isn't on their website. Ask the office or the imam's assistant quietly.
- Call 211It's free and works anywhere in Canada. Say you're looking for culturally sensitive or faith-based support, and ask about Muslim organizations near you.
- Look for Muslim family or social servicesSearch your city's name with "Muslim family services" or "Muslim counselling". Organizations that serve many cities, like Naseeha or Nisa Homes, can also point you to local help.
- Check that it's trustworthyA real organization will have a registered charity number or licensed counsellors, and will never pressure you. You can check any charity's number on the Canada Revenue Agency's charity search.
